So what do I do with Poser? I only use it to "pose" human and animal characters. Scene setup, texturing, modification of the models and rendering is all done in C4D. Yes, you can also render stuff in Poser but it simply not as powerful as C4D. If it comes to modification of the models then you have only a very limited toolset within Poser. In C4D you can edit and modify the models on polygon/point level, you can even repaint the textures with bodypaint. So you have lots of more options in C4D.
Why do I still use Poser? I am working fulltime as software engineer and am doing this 3D stuff only in my spare time. I am also more a scene builder than a modeller, so using Poser and the library of figures saves a looooot of time. My focus is on building the scenes and having fun
